Professional Standards

The Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong - Code of Practice for Chinese
Medicine Practitioners (which includes the practise of Acupuncture)

The setting up of the regulatory system for Chinese medicine practitioners, by the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong, is to ensure the professional standard and conduct of Chinese medicine practitioners so as to safeguard public health and consumer's rights, while according a statutory professional status for Chinese medicine practitioners.
As a listed practitioner with the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong I am bound to comply with the Chinese Medicine Ordinance which stipulates that all Chinese medicine practitioners should be suitably educated, qualified,  experienced and registered before they can practise Chinese medicine in HK, and should comply with the professional code of practice compiled by the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board. The contents of the code of practice includes regulation of the discipline, professional responsibility and ethics and practising criteria of Chinese medicine practitioners.

The Australian College of Acupuncturists  - Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct and Practice Guidelines
Membership of this College requires the practitioner to have proper tertiary qualifications and practice experience. As a member for many years I am bound to abide by its Code of Ethics which aims to identify the fundamental moral and ethical commitments of the profession; to provide a basis for ethical practice; and to indicate to the community the values held by the members of the Australian College of Acupuncturists. In addition I am bound to abide by their Practice Guidelines and Code of Conduct which sets forth the principles of professional conduct, developed to safeguard the welfare of patients and the integrity of the profession.
Other Associations  - Code of Ethics, Conduct and Practice
I have also been a member for many years of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, the Chinese Acupuncture Association (HK), the Hong Kong Chinese Herbalists Association, the Association of Hong Kong and Kowloon Practitioners of Chinese Medicine, and a Fellow of the Australian Natural Therapists Association. These Associations have their own Code of Ethics, Conduct and Practice which I am also bound to comply with.
